The Chainsmokers are a dynamic duo of DJ’s who have been crushing it in clubs and venues across the country. Consisting of Alex Pall and Drew Taggart, the duo has made hits after hits, especially “Closer” featuring Halsey peaking at number 1 from a couple years ago.
Continuing their trend of making hits such as “Don’t Let Me Down” and “Something Just Like This,” The Chainsmokers released another hot tune called the “Side Effects.” Released on July 27th of this year, the song features Emily Warren, an American singer and songwriter who previously collaborated with The Chainsmokers. With her dashing voice accompanied by a “funky, disco-tinged banger,” The Chainsmokers came out firing on all cylinders, looking to claim the spot as the anthem of the summer.
Recently, Billboard had an interview with The Chainsmokers, talking about the recent show at Hollywood Palladium. Sort of a homecoming for the duo, Taggart and Pall expressed their appreciation for the amount of support from friends and family they received.
In reference to their Palladium show, Taggart stated, “It’s really fun anytime we play a show in LA, because we do live here and we’re never here. It’s a show that all of our homies can come to, which [makes] you kind of perform differently — you’re a little bit more relaxed on stage when you know that all of your friends are there just raging, having a good time.”
During the interview, Billboard and The Chainsmokers also discussed the new song, “Side Effects.“ The duo mentioned that their songs are a “reflection of what [they’re] going through at the moment,” and that the upbeat summer vibe of the song is a reflection of just that, a summertime record.
The duo hopes to continue their journey in the musical realm, making music and playing live shows.
